Seaside

We didn't make it to the beach all summer, which is totally unusual for us. The first weekend after school started was almost 90 degrees so we headed over to Seaside.  Instead of sunny and beautiful, we found wind, fog and fast moving clouds.  There were moments of sun so we took advantage of what we could.

Blue sky!

Jocelyn chasing seagulls - an annual tradition.

Kate loved the windy day.

Kate splashing around in the water and spinning in the wind.

A rare moment of Jocelyn standing still.

Jocelyn thinks Kurt is funny while Kate photobombs them in the background.

Nothing better than warm sand after swimming.

J&K chilling out together for a moment.

First Day of 2nd Grade

Lord have mercy - the twins are in 2nd Grade!

Summer Water Highlights Video

The girls spent their summer in water of some form or another.  Here is a little video of some different water activities they enjoyed.

Blue Lake

We are always on the lookout for new places to go in Portland.  Blue Lake Park has a park, swimming area and a splash pad so it sounded like the perfect spot for a warm Labor Day afternoon.  It was bright and sunny, but rather cloudy at the same time so the colors of the pictures are a little strange, depending on the light at the moment.  We have been to lakes before and the girls have never showed much interest in swimming, but this trip proved different.  It turns out that we have a couple of lake swimmers on our hands.  They wanted to wear their swimsuits and Jocelyn wanted Kurt to throw her in the deep end right away!  Kathryn liked to be out as deep as she could go so she spent the day out at the ropes.

Twins at Blue Lake swimming beach.

Kate checking out the bubblers.

Both girls wanted their swimsuits on and ran back into the water to play.

Even though the water was shallow, Jocelyn wanted Kurt to throw her into the water over and over and over again.

Lake swimmers!

Walking and bobbing along.

Wings and Waves

Knowing how much the girls were enjoying pools and water slides, we couldn't let the summer pass without going back to Evergreen Wings and Waves.  It was just as much fun as we remembered from last year!

Walking across the rope bridge to the water slides.

Jocelyn getting surprised by the bucket drop.

She seems to love it, no matter how much water gets in her face.

Checking out the play space.

Kathryn was all smiles.

More smiles.

Smiling and up to ears in water.

Jocelyn eyeing the kids next to us.

Smiling after going underwater with Daddy.

Kate loved stepping on the fountains.

Happy von Wasmuth girls in the pool.

Equally happy with Daddy in the water.

Ahhh - refreshing!

Enchanted Forest

It was once again time for our annual pilgrimage to our favorite theme park. Each year the girls seem to enjoy it more than the last.

Each year I marvel at how tall the girls are getting when we see them in relation to the scary witch.

The crooked house is always a fave.  I love that Jocelyn actually looks crooked!

Kathryn's action shot, trying to leave her corner.

This picture sums up how the girls were feeling about riding the bobsled ride.  Jocie was excited.  Kate was blase'.

The girls in Wonderland.

Jocelyn did not like to carry her rug to the top of the slide.  Here she was carrying it only far enough to hand off to Kathryn, who typically carries both.

Our Old West family photo!

Jocie was extremely pleased to go on this ride.

FACT Family Swim Night

We have an organization in Portland called FACT - Families and Communities Together - that helps families with any manor of special needs.  They sponsor many different types of events, from informational to fun.  They had a Family Swim Night at our favorite local pool, after regular pool hours.  We snapped up a reservation as soon as we heard about it and had a blast at Wilson Pool without the usual crowds.  The night was a little cool and we had a rain shower or two, but it was worth every second.

Jocelyn was bobbing up and down in the lazy river and I caught a face full of water during one intense splash.
