We had a quiet 4th of July in Vancouver with Grammy and Grampa this year. Quiet is the wrong word for the evening, however. Vancouver residents put on quite a show of fireworks. It's a 360 degree feast for the eyes and this is the first year we have stayed into the night to witness the event. The girls loved it!

Triumphant!

We journeyed out to Hagg Lake one warm summer day to see what it had to offer. The answer was not much. The lake was extremely low and the beaches were mostly clay. We did find one little stream to wade in and got some happy faces out of the girls before Kathryn slipped and fell in the creek. We departed with less happy children than we arrived.
We made our annual trip down to the Tigard Balloon Festival for the night glow. It was a little too windy for the balloons so they only blew up a couple of them for a few minutes, but then did a show with the fire blowers instead.
Jocie spent many summer days in the hot tub with Grampa. She loves to go underwater so he bought her a nice set of goggles and taught her how to use them.
One of the girls' favorite parks is on the Willamette River. It offers a nice sandy beach and water access. They enjoy all of the action on the water, with passing boats and swimmers and jet skiers, and all of the waterfowl on the beach.
