Vista House and Rooster Rock

The weather since school started has been spectacular.  We took a weekend day trip into the gorge on a sunny and beautiful Saturday in September.  Our first stop was at Vista House, because the girls love the wind.  We spent a long time up there with the breeze blowing through our hair.  Then we journeyed over to Rooster Rock State Park.  The last time we were there, the river was so high that the staircases that normally lead down to the river's edge were leading straight into the water.  This time, the river was extremely low so there was a gorgeous beach and tons of kite boarders zooming around the water.

Kate, Kurt and Jocie.

Twins with the wind whipping through their hair.

Kathryn enjoying the wind with her whole body.

Jocie got a slicked back hairstyle at this angle.

Riding the wind.

Running along the banks of the Columbia and watching a kite boarder.

The girls were thrilled by all of the kites in the air.

We saw this guy take off from the beach - very cool to watch.

A quick and windy picture with my girls. Check out all the tiny kites in the background.

A panoramic shot that went horribly awry!
