December

The holiday season of 2020 has been very limited.  Covid-19 has closed down or dramatically scaled back everything we usually enjoy from Thanksgiving to New Year's.  Our first attempt at a holiday outing was to Washington Square to see Santa.  This was the first year that nobody got to sit on or near Santa.  He was in his sleigh and everyone got to sit on a box that was 10 feet in front of him.

So many of our holiday outings were cancelled.  The Grotto Festival of Lights, Christmas in the Garden, Aspen Meadows and the Fantasy Trail were all closed.  We found a few drive through options to stoke our holiday cheer.

The first stop was PIR and the Winter Wonderland.

What is a "studed tire?"

Drive through #2 was Candy Cane Lane in West Linn.

Our third stop was The Winter Fair at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds.

Frog Pond Farm was our fourth drive through.

Zoolights was the highlight of the drive through season.

Clockwork Rose was closed, along with most other restaurants, but they did offer their Dickens Tea to go.  We got our treats and watched A Christmas Carol in the comfort of our living room.

Christmas day was just as unusual as the rest of the season.  Papa could not join us because his assisted living facility was still in lockdown. We had a quiet morning and skipped our big family breakfast. After we opened gifts and got ready for the day, we went to my parents' house for a few more gifts but decided to forgo a homemade Christmas dinner and we got take out from The Elephant's Deli. It was definitely the most low key Christmas ever and much less work than previous years.
