We tried and tried to get to Zoolights this year but were thwarted at every turn. Weather and illness got in our way multiple times. Finally, on January 6th, the last day they were open, we made a spur of the moment decision and gave it a go. As it turns out, waiting until the last night was a good idea. It wasn't as crowded as it is before the holidays.
Note the lack of crowds - perhaps because it was still a little bit light out.
This is the girls' favorite perch during a regular zoo trip - right by the spouting horn. This year it was sporting it's own pelican.
Zoo Train! It wasn't running this year because they are expanding the elephant habitat, but they dressed up the train and had it available for pictures.
There were many new displays this year in different parts of the zoo. The girls liked this fish show.
Another nautical themed shot. It's a good thing we got this picture when we did. We walked by a while later and the whole middle had gone out.
Kathryn and Jocelyn checking out the red light wall. Again, note the lack of crowds.
Annual picture by the light river.
This was new this year. A tunnel of colored lights!
K&J in the spectacular tunnel.
Kate and Jocie briefly standing still.
